ABOUT THE PRODUCT

Classroom Library Bingo brings the fun to a classroom library at secondary level every time!!

How to use Classroom Library Bingo?

  • Before “opening” the classroom library for browsing, teach students all about what lives in the classroom library, how it is organized, why you’ve chosen the books that are included in it, how they will “check out” books from the classroom library and how they’ll help keep it organized for other readers, etc.

  • It's like classroom library rules - but in a much more fun, approachable, and authentic way!

  • Then give students an opportunity to browse the middle school classroom library or high school classroom library with their classroom library bingo boards (this resource comes with sets of different boards so they don't all have the same one!)

  • While students browse, they fill out their classroom library bingo board with books in each category that they find in the classroom and think they might be interested in reading.

  • They are encouraged to fill as many as possible but also to make it an authentic place to keep track of books they might REALLY read - because creating real readers is the goal!

Tips about this Classroom Library Bingo Resource:

  • It includes 10 different classroom library bingo boards - so distribute them amongst students in a mixed up way!

  • Once students have all had a chance to fill in their classroom library bingo board with reading ideas, they head back to seats for a good old fashioned game of bingo. Middle school and high school students LOVE when we allow them to have some fun like this!

  • You may end up getting a few “bingos!” at once or you may not depending on how many boxes and which ones students fill in as they browse your classroom library. Be prepared for either!

  • Have some fun prizes set aside and ready to toss to students that yell "BINGO!" and prove it by sharing their Bingo spaces and book titles filled in with others!

  • When students share their book titles - more students are encouraged to check out new book titles! :) It's a win win!
